That is why we developed the 3 Basic Levels of Nordic Walking. Most Americans really just want to casually walk with their poles so we developed safe and effect instructions for what we call Level 1. Level 1 burns about 20% more calories than regular walking. Level 2 involves a full arm extension and burns about 30% more calories than regular walking. Level 3 is true Nordic Walking, but most Americans opt for Level 1 or Level 2. Level 3 really does burn up to 40% more calories than regular walking and is extremely effective.
